Calhoun’s Randhula Wickramasinghe Wins Essay Contest

Students in Don Campbell's social studies classes at Calhoun High School submitted essays to the American History Essay Contest sponsored by the Amityville Colonel Gilbert Potter Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The students were tasked with selecting a figure from the era of the American Revolution and discussing how he/she influenced the course of the American Revolution and contributed to the founding of a new nation.

Randhula Wickramasinghe won first place and his essay has been entered into a statewide competition. Shardul Singh’s essay received a commendation. Both students were honored with a certificate and cash prize.
