Five students from the Central High School District won medals for their work at the Long Island Math Fair.
Kennedy High School senior Christopher Prainito, along with Merrick Avenue eighthgraders Ryan Kenny, Jason Lin, and Jordan Siegel won bronze medals. Kennedy junior Luke Feldman won the district's first gold medal in over 10 years.
Each studentwrote a research paper on a challenging math topic of their choice and recorded a video where they summarized their findings, then submitted their work before a panel of professors.
“To have one medal winner on its own is extremely impressive, but having five winners including a gold shows the hard work and determination of Bellmore-Merrick mathematics students,” said math chairperson David Prince.
