The CHSD was once again recognized by the U.S. News & World Report ranking of public high schools in America, according to a report released on April 23.

In this year's compilation, which assessed over 24,000 schools nationally and over 1,200 in New York State, all three high schools ranked in the top 7.5 percent in the nation in the top 12.5 percent in the state.

“Although studies cannot capture all of the great experiences offered to students in Bellmore-Merrick, it is always nice to be acknowledged as one of the top districts in the state and nation,” noted Scott Bersin, Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum and Instruction.

This is the third time this school year the district has gained national attention. In October 2023, the CHSD was ranked 28th out of nearly 11,000 school districts evaluated by Niche.com across the nation. These rankings are based on factors obtained from the U.S. Department of Education and include state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, teacher quality and public school district ratings.

Then in December 2023, the College Board Advanced Placement named Bellmore-Merrick the District of the Year for being a national leader among medium-sized school districts whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access.
