BMCHSD SPORTS PHYSICALS

Dear BMCHSD Sports Families:

As a reminder, sports physicals are valid for one calendar year through the last day of the month of which the physical was completed (a physical dated June 13, 2023, is acceptable until June 30, 2024). However, if the 12 month period for the physical elapses during the sports season, participants can complete the season as long as a health history was conducted prior to the start of the season. All physicals are subject to approval by the Bellmore-Merrick CHSD nursing staff and/or Medical Director.

Ideally, your child’s primary health care provider should perform the health appraisal, which includes the physical examination component. If you are unable to furnish the school with a medical report, the BMCHSD school physician (male or female) can examine your child. To access the 2023 Fall Sports Physicals Schedule please click here. Should you elect to have your child have their physical conducted by the BMCHSD physician, kindly complete the form attached.

Hard copies of physicals may be sent electronically to the RN in the school your child attends. In addition, you may also either mail the document (made to the attention of the “School Nurse”) via USPS or drop the document off at the main office in the school your child attends.

Should you have further questions, feel free to contact the Athletics office at your convenience. Thank you.

  • 2021-23 GRAND ATHLETICS SPORTS PARTICIPATION

As we move into the final stretch of our Grand spring athletics' season, we are now preparing for this and next year's athletics' awards.

Alphabetized rosters have been hung outside of Mr. Riccardi's office on the first floor. These lists contain the names, sports, and seasons, for which all athletes have participated.

Over the course of Monday, May 15, and Tuesday, May 16, both 7th and 8th graders must check these lists for accuracy. If there is information that is not accurate or missing, kindly email Mr. Fisher immediately with the correct information.

  • WINTER ll / SPRING MANDATORY ROSTER CHECK: May 10

Next Wednesday, May 10, all winter ll and spring athletes must report immediately to the gymnasium after school for a mandatory roster meeting.  This meeting is to double check and finalize for current and future eighth grade awards. All athletes must attend!

  • ALERT: SPRING EQUIPMENT STORAGE

Spring sports begin Monday, March 27. Here are some tips due to storage facility limitations…

ALL equipment must be stored in the wrestling room prior to 7:56AM. The doors will be locked promptly and there will be no access again until your coach permits entry.

Each individual team will have a personal space provided for storage in the wrestling room. Equipment must be neatly kept in its designated area to avoid damage/loss.

Equipment (especially of high-value) should be kept to a minimum. Multiple pieces are not permitted i.e baseball/softball bats.

Mid-day drop-offs of equipment are highly discouraged. Any equipment drop-offs done during the middle of the day will not be delivered to your child as not to present an instructional distraction. Any/all equipment delivered during instructional hours will be left outside and not secured. Delivery will occur at the end of the instructional day at which time your child will be called down to collect their equipment.

ALL valuables must be secured and locked in your personal locker. Money, cell phones, jewelry, etc. cannot be safeguarded by the school if not properly maintained by the student. It is incumbent upon our athletes to properly secure their valuables.

  • SPRING SPORTS

Spring sports begin Monday, March 27. All athletes must be medically cleared on Rankone to be eligible to participate.

Additionally, please come prepared with all appropriate/required gear for your sport.

All sports equipment must be dropped off in the wrestling room before first period classes for safeguarding. Do not leave anything needed for the academic day in the wrestling room as it will be locked and you will not have access until practice.

Finally, all athletes must report to their respective seventh or eighth grade cafeteria following school and wait to be picked up by their coach.

    GO GRAND!!!
